It launched in December 2022 as a creator-friendly alternative to Twitch, co-founded by Ed Craven (co-owner of the casino brand Stake.com) and backed by high-profile streamers like Trainwreckstv.

Kick’s mission was simple but powerful — put creators first. The platform introduced an attention-grabbing 95/5 revenue split, meaning streamers keep 95 % of their earnings while Kick takes only 5 %, compared to Twitch’s traditional 50/50 model.

Within months, Kick became a serious challenger in the streaming space. Big-name Twitch streamers such as Adin Ross, xQc, Amouranth, and BruceDropEmOff signed exclusive or partial deals, drawing millions of fans and massive media attention.
